Class Description: (Lauren Evans) What happens when you begin making before you know what you’re making? In this hands-on sculpture workshop, participants will use plasticine clay to explore how simple actions—compressing, extending, pinching, bending, hollowing, and more—can lead unexpectedly to form. Through a series of quick guided exercises, students will follow their hands, respond to the material, and discover possibilities through making rather than beginning with a predetermined object or idea. They will then choose one discovery to revisit and develop into a small sculpture using air-dry clay that they can take home.
